Selective pallet racking is the predominant storage system in warehouses housing palletized goods. Renowned for its versatility, simple assembly, and cost-effectiveness, it offers direct access to each pallet, facilitating efficient inventory management—ideal for companies handling numerous SKUs with varying pallet
The primary advantage of selective pallet racking is its direct pallet access, ensuring efficient loading/unloading and inventory management. Its versatility and ample storage locations cater to diverse needs. However, it may limit storage capacity in scenarios with few SKUs and many pallets per SKU, where high-density systems like drive-in racking or pallet flow racking are preferred.
Selective pallet racking dimensions are adaptable to warehouse needs. Rack heights vary from a few meters to over 40 meters, with unlimited length possibilities. Safety passageways and interior tunnels enhance accessibility. Frame depth corresponds to pallet dimensions, typically 1,100mm for 1,200mm Euro-pallets.

While primarily used for pallet storage, pallet racks can be adapted with various accessories to accommodate diverse loads, including containers, reels, drums, and other cylindrical items, as well as medium-sized and large unpalletized products.
In their standard configuration, pallet racking does not utilize shelves, as pallets are stored directly on the beams. However, metal or chipboard shelves can be added to the beams to house other unit loads and facilitate additional operations, such as order picking directly from the racking.
Yes, selective pallet racks support order picking alongside storage functions. Operators can pick directly from pallets at floor level or from designated levels within the racking. Additionally, picking shelves can be installed on lower levels to store unit loads while reserving upper levels for pallet storage.
